Here is an in-depth breakdown of our crafting techniques to help those of you who are still deciding which surface finish to choose
In terms of visual aesthetics, we have three distinct surface finishes: All matte, All glossy, and a Matte on wood while glossy on epoxy.
From craftsmanship and production techniques, we have three specialized surface processes: Protective lacquered , Complete resin encapsulated, and Wood wax oiled combined epoxy high glossy polished.
1. All in matte - Protective lacquered
The lacquer we use is a patented formula developed by Mooka and China Petrochemical (Sinopec) over five years specifically for our river tables. It's exceptionally thin and breathable effect, not like the heavy bulky looking of ordinary wood tables.Typically this surface coating is scratch-resistant, waterproof, and stain-resistant, making daily maintenance simple. It is the preferred choice for the majority of our buyers.
In daily use without any heavy sharp staff droped on it, it will easily last 10 years without any issues. The only concern is if it's damaged by drops of heavy stuff and the lacquered layer chips and peeled off, a spot repair is impossible. It need a full work to sand the entire lacquered layer off and re-do the whole surface on the entire tabletop to ensure a uniform appearance. In summary, daily maintenance costs are close to zero, but the repair cost for major damage is high.

2. All in glossy - Complete resin encapsulated
This full resin encapsulation process is coating the surface by resin,not just the top layer, but all 6 sides of the tabletop are sealed in resin, the entire piece presents a uniform brightness and refractive index. Noticeable wear and tear will show up during 5-6 years daily use, but it can be easily removed by 1,000-grit sandpaper and wool buffing pads. If damage happens to dents from drops of heavy stuff, it can also be repaired by filling with resin. Overall, daily maintenance costs is low, and the repair cost for major damage is not high either.

3. Matte on wood glossy on epoxy - Wood wax oiled combined epoxy high glossy polished
This is an ultimate luxury experience, what sets it apart from above finishing is that it give a completely new experience on visual and tactual sensation. You can both see the soft diffuse reflection of the wood matte finish and the contemporary mirror reflection from high-gloss resin, you can both feel the warm from rich tactile of natural wood grain and touch the cold from the sleeking epoxy. This is an expensive invest for your home, is that the wood itself is exposed to the air, which places extremely high demands on the wood-drying process, resulting in a very low yield rate. Additionally, hand-polishing the hard resin to a mirror-like reflection takes master artisans several weeks of work.Every single piece is a unique heirloom-quality masterpiece.
It can be passed down as an heirloom because its maintenance costs are low and anyone can easily do it. Regular maintenance keeps it looking brand new. Daily wear marks can be removed with simple manual sanding, and the resin can be restored to new condition using 1,000-grit sandpaper and wool buffing pads, this built to last and can be used indefinitely.
